Notes & Reviews:
One of Europe's foremost pianists, Katya Apekisheva has been described by Gramophone magazine as, "a profoundly gifted artist." A prize-winner at the Leeds Piano Competition and Scottish Piano Competition, Apekisheva has appeared as soloist with many of the world's leading orchestras, and her release of Grieg solo piano works was a 2008 Critic's Choice in Gramophone. Here, Apekisheva makes her solo Onyx début with the work that brought the house down at her recent recital in London's Wigmore Hall - Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. It is paired with nine selections from Shostakovich's Preludes, Op.34.
