Album Summary
Performer
Roberto Giordano (Piano)
Notes & Reviews:
A professor at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia from 1868, and founder of the music school of the same name, Sgambati combined his teaching with his career as a pianist and composer. He was connected to Liszt after being his student, and his famous residence in Piazza di Spagna was opened to visitors including Debussy, Grieg, Liszt's "Roman School," and even Wagner, who recommended his Quintetti to the publisher Schott. As with his two Sinfonie, his Concerto was composed between 1878 and 1880, and was often performed by the composer himself. Born in 1981, Roberto Giordano received the diploma at Ecole Normale de Musique Alfred Cortot in Paris with a unanimous vote by the jury. He is a regular guest of some of the most important stages and festivals in the world.
