Though a truncated version of the film's soundtrack was released in 1996, Star Trek fans can finally get their hands on the complete score to Star Trek: First Contact with this limited-edition release from Crescendo Records. Composed by Jerry Goldsmith, who also composed the score for a number of other Trek films (including Star Trek: The Motion Picture), the score brings all of the majesty and drama that fans of the iconic series have come to expect from Goldsmith. Though Star Trek: The Next Generation was an epic show, the music here helps the series' second jump to the silver screen (though it would be the first film without any cast members from the original series), bringing all of the tension and power that the original 45-minute version of the soundtrack just couldn't quite capture. While die-hard fans of the series more than likely already own the first release of the score, the complete edition is a must-hear for fans of Goldsmith's work for the sci-fi series. ~ Gregory Heaney
