This 2012 Edsel two-fer combines Little Feat's last two albums with Lowell George on a double-disc set. Neither of these LPs is among the band's very best work -- George was beginning to recede from the spotlight and the rest of the band, spearheaded by pianist Bill Payne, emphasized jazz fusion just a tad too heavily -- but the best moments of both have aged very well. On Time Loves a Hero, there's the title track, the rampaging rocker "Rocket in My Pocket," and the jovial "Old Folks Boogie"; Down on the Farm has the slyly silly title track and George's two-step "Six Feet of Snow." Each record has other engaging moments -- nothing to match their early highs but music certainly worth investigating, particularly on an affordable and attractive two-fer like this. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
