Apparently, director Woody Allen learned something from the clamoring and complaining of fans who desired a soundtrack to his 2011 film, Midnight in Paris. One didn't exist upon its release, and subsequently, only Midnight in Paris: Music from the Motion Picture was released. That's been remedied for the release of To Rome with Love. Not only does this set contain all 16 tunes featured in the film, it includes two more. The assemblage of music here ranges from opera and swing jazz to cafe music and classic pop; from Italian bossa nova to electro-disco, and even includes a redux version of "Volare" performed by Steven Bernstein's Neapolitan Orchestra. However delightful these tunes were as film cues, as a set of music for a purely musical listening experience, this falls short of enjoyable. ~ Thom Jurek
