Notes & Reviews:
Stories of Mozart's musical precocity, especially centered on pianistic work, are well-known and form an integral part of our mythology around the composer. This release aims to bring wider attention to the charming opera buffa La finta semplice, composed by Mozart at age 12. Full of light and elegant arias, skillful ensembles, and amusing characterizations, this recording casts the spotlight on a the delightful mind of a developing young composer.

Helen Donath is her usual bright-toned and fluent self and she has a fine trill; Teresa Berganza is lovely too, nuanced as always and still in creamy voice. Light and springy, even more delectable is Jutta-Renate Ihloff in the soubrette role, Ninetta.
