American Record Guide, January/February 2013
Besides the lyrical 20-minute Variations of 1958, we have an Adagio and an Allegro deciso from 1963 in a more dissonant but attractive style, For Those we Loved, a 14-minute celebration of life of 2010 that moves us on to a piece written in memory of Kraft's parents with a comforting text from Isaiah for chorus and orchestra. All of these highly listenable works are performed with warmth of sound and involvement by Suben and his Moravians. Kraft writes his own very informative liner notes. It is good to hear from this composer. His music is in an idiom that a listener can relate to.
