Technically impeccable and emotionally charged performances of Eugène Ysaÿe's Six Sonatas for Solo Violin, Op. 27 by Serbian violinist Andrej Kurti.

Kurti is an excellent violinist and musician, and these are some of the better performances of these sonatas that I have heard. Kurti is very musical and stylish, and these performances would have been among the best available ten years ago, but some violinists have recorded these works who have looked into them more deeply and given more individual readings, though he hardly sounds generic. You couldn't go wrong if you had this disc as your only recording of these works, but the sets by Thomas Zehetmair (Jan/Feb 2005) and Rachel Kolly d'Alba (March/April 2011) are outstanding, and Nemanja Radulovic excels in Sonata 3 (Sept/Oct 2006).
