Notes & Reviews:

On Fantasy 1720, Japanese-German organist Aya Yoshida presents world premiere recordings of two completions of fragments of an organ Fantasy and a Fugue by J.S. Bach, as completed by Prof. Thomas Meyer-Fiebig, head of the Composition department at Kunitachi Graduate School of Music in Tokyo. The CD also features premieres of Meyer-Fiebig's virtuosic organ arrangements of two famous Bach violin solo compositions, including the mighty Ciaccona (Chaconne) in D Minor. This recital was recorded on the famous Jehmlich organ at the Kreuzkirche, Dresden, one of the finest concert organs built in post-war Germany.

Aya Yoshida was born in Nagoya, Japan. She moved to Germany at the age of 15 for formal training as a concert and church organist. In 1993, she was appointed Music Director of St. Paul's Church in Cologne, one of the largest catholic churches in the city. She held this post for 13 years prior to moving back to Japan in 2006, and currently teaches as a full-time lecturer at Nagoya Women's University.

American Record Guide, January/February 2013
Among Bach's organ works there are pieces that survive only as fragments. Two of these are given here in completions by Thomas Meyer-Fiebig (b 1949), a native of Bielefeld, Germany, who now heads the composition department at the Kunitachi Graduate School of Music in Tokyo. Also on the program are Meyer-Fiebig's organ arrangements of two works for unaccompanied solo violin: the Sonata in A minor (S 1004) and the Chaconne from Partita in D minor (S 1003).
