Notes & Reviews:
Verdi's fifteenth opera and one that is performed quite frequently is now available from Warner Classics and Cetra. Featured in this 1951 celebration performance marking Verdi's 50th anniversary from his death is American soprano Lucy Kelston playing the title role opposite legendary tenor Giacomo Lauri-Volpi.

Luisa Miller has the mostly unknown Lucy Kelston in the title role. She really is quite good. Colombo is a slick Miller. There is some decent singing in the bass department from Vaghi and Baronti.
