The richness and command of the singing puts this among the very finest of Sutherland's later recordings. Bonynge's conducting is finely sprung, the style direct, the speeds often spacious in lyrical music, generally undistracting. The digital recording is outstandingly vivid and beautifully balanced.
BBC Music Magazine, January 2013
Sutherland's second studio Traviata shows her on mature if still considerable form alongside the ebullient Pavarotti and the considered Matteo Manuguerra.
Recording information: Kingsway Hall, London (11/1979).
