This 25-track set collects artists and songs that fell into the Grateful Dead's musical blender, and if it's by no means the whole story, it's still an impressive and varied sequence, ranging from Cannon's Jug Stompers ("Viola Lee Blues") and John Coltrane ("Africa"), to Johnny Cash ("Big River") and the gentle Elizabeth Cotten ("Oh Babe, It Ain't No Lie").
