This disc feature the only live recording of violinist Ginette Neveu performing Brahms' violin concerto in 1948 Hamburg. The critical acclaim following this concert was overwhelming, as exemplified by the Hamburg Echo's comment: "Ginette Neveu, the young French violinist of unquestionably international class whose secret lies, in the final analysis, in concentration and absolute discipline, gave a masterly performance of the Brahms concerto. She played with an unparalleled gift for flexible expression which was coupled with an extreme musical passion and sense of rhythm".
