Duo Spiritoso plays Granados / Andrew Zonn and Jeffrey McFadden, guitars

Album Summary

>Granados, Enrique : Danse espagnole, Op. 37/5
>Granados, Enrique : Valses (7) poeticos
Ensemble Composer

Notes & Reviews:

Duo Spiritoso performs two complete works of classic Spanish nationalism by Enrique Granados. In the specific case of Granados, the rugged core of Spanish folk idiom at the nucleus of his music is polished to a gleam, couched in an unfailing elegance of gesture and aristocratic reserve. A much needed addition to the concert guitar discography catalogue, Duo Spiritoso plays Granados belongs in every music lover's collection

American Record Guide, January/February 2013
Barrueco rounds out his program with several transcriptions of Falla; Zohn and McFadden add a two-guitar transcription of the Valses Poeticos. The two-guitar format adds to this work as it did to the dances; although I'm still in love with Xuefei Yang's glorious solo performance (S/O 2008), this is also quite satisfying.
