Notes & Reviews:
The second volume of the complete orchestral music of Ottorino Respighi presents a wealth of lesser known works in the context of the concerto form and the composer's relationship with early music. The lushness of these works proves the voluptuous orchestration of the Roman Trilogy to be an overarching stylistic element of Respighi in both small and large forms.

The Telarc is very delicate and perfumed - a quiet tropical night. But this one is still very beautiful; and I think the music needs to be more definite, so I like this very much. In Cincinnati it is stunning. Vadim Brodsky is the violinist in the Antique Concerto as well as the Autumn Poem. Ingolf Turban recorded this with Marcello Viotti, and it's livelier and more interesting all around.
