Notes & Reviews:

The Liturgical Year with Johann Sebastian Bach series has already cut an impressive figure in choral recordings. The Thomanerchor Leipzig returns with a fourth disc, which celebrates Bach's music for the First Sunday of Advent. They are joined by the Gewandhausorchester to perform the music that would define Advent, as Bach adhered to the practice of tempus clausum for the remainder of the season.

American Record Guide, November/December 2013
The first disc has three cantatas for the Advent season: 61 and 62 both open with the words of the chorale that is their separate points of departure, 'Nun Komm, der Heiden Heiland", one of pre-Leipzig date (1714), the other written 20 years later; 36, Schwingt Freudig euch Empor, came in 1731.
