- Ulfert Smidt (Organ)
Notes & Reviews:
Under the direction of Jörg Breiding, the Knabenchor Hannover performs well-known songs for Advent and Christmas set to music in a contemporary style by Siegfried Strohbach. Accompanied by festive texts and organ interludes, this work is a unified whole that prepares listeners for the Christmas season in both a meditative and a festive spirit.
American Record Guide, November/December 2013
Gloria in Excelsis Deo is a collection of about two dozen short pieces for the Christmas season. The settings of these chorales, as well as the Magnificat and several folk melodies, are by Strohbach, who writes in a refreshing, accessible style. The performances themselves are very fine.
