While Weinberg was establishing his reputation in Moscow with serious music, he also composed twenty-three charming miniatures to meet the demand for children's music in the Soviet Union. These were criticized for being too sophisticated, but like the 21 Easy Pieces may be intended for audiences of all ages. Allison Brewster Franzetti renders them beautifully.
