Notes & Reviews:
Martin Boykan's Symphony showcases the complete orchestral music of this important Modernist composer whose repertoire consists mostly of chamber works and music for the voice. Concerto for Violin and Orchestra was written with Curtis Macomber (featured soloist) in mind for performance and had its world premiere with BMOP in 2008. Symphony for Baritone and Orchestra, influenced by the composer's immersion in Beethoven, closes with a setting of Keats's sonnet "To Sleep" sung by baritone Sanford Sylvan. Gil Rose and BMOP are pleased to present this first recording of Martin Boykan's orchestral music.
