Christmas from Bath

Notes & Reviews:

American Record Guide, November/December 2013
You can hear some wonderful and less often heard arrangements of well-known carols and hymns, including thrilling descants: 'Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming' by David Blackwell, 'God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen' by Mark Sirett, 'O Little Town of Bethlehem' by Dudley Holroyd and David Hill, 'It Came Upon the Midnight Clear' by John Scott. 'O Come, All ye Faithful' by Ledger; 'The Sussex Carol', 'Good King Wenceslas', 'Silent Night', 'While Shepherds Watched', and 'Away in a Manger' by Bob Chilcott; and 'Hark! the Herald Angels Sing' in a brilliant arrangement by Paul Leddington Wright. The choirmen come from many different walks of life and live in Bath and the surrounding area. I had the opportunity to attend a stirring Remembrance Day service at the abbey in November 2012 sung by the men and girl choristers that showed the highest level of musical performance. The same high standards are readily evident here.
