Notes & Reviews:

Seventeenth century Bolognese master Giovanni Battista Vitali composed these charming, small-scale Sonate da Chiesa for only two violins and continuo, making the style accessible for small churches and competent amateurs of the day and becoming quite popular in the process. Semperconsort astutely display the works to their best advantage for a new audience.

American Record Guide, March / April 2013
The short movements of these sonatas could be used in the Mass - to substitute for the motet that could occur after the Epistle or to be played during the Gradual, the Offertory, or at the Elevation - and even for the entry and exit processions of the celebrant and accompanying servers and altar boys. These are indeed light, small pieces that supply easy and pleasant listening. I enjoyed both the music and the performances, which are lively and expressive.

BBC Music Magazine, December 2013
Compact and genial, the Violin Sonatas are given honest if somewhat homogenised performances.
