There are many fine recordings of the Bach motets, and I think this one can stand with the best of them. Frieder Bernius directs performances that are thoughtful and coherent with considerable animation yet free from interpretive quirks and gimmicks. These are highly polished mainstream performances of this music that should amply fill the bill for listeners seeking such a recording.
