The CD features Rota's complete chamber works for flute, which he composed from 1935 to 1972. The Quintetto was dedicated to his mother and is justifiably considered one of the most important among Rota's early works. Dedicated to the harpist Clelia Gatti Aldrovandi, the Sonata per flauto e arpa has the same clarity of structure as the Quintet, once again in three movements.
