Notes & Reviews:

Françaix (1912 - 97) has long enjoyed a reputation as one of the happier composers. His Gallic charm and breezy good humor eclipse the superb craftsmanship of his writing. The disc presents world premiere and rare recordings. The booklet contains introductory comments by the composer's son, Jacques.

American Record Guide, March / April 2013
Jean Francaix (1912-97) is one of those composers known best by other musicians. It's been a privilege to accompany a few of his wind pieces over the years, and I've enjoyed everything of his that I've heard. He was a talented and disciplined composer. The Symphonie d'Archets has its charm mostly in the first two movements. This is its first recording. Die Kamelien is on record for the first time as well: it is in six movements and begins with an Andantino that is bright-toned. You'll all be happy. Notes in English.
