Album Summary
Performer
Andreas Post (Tenor)
Notes & Reviews:
Domenico Sarri numbered among the composers who enjoyed great success with their operas in Naples during the early eighteenth century but gained renown throughout the rest of Europe principally with their sacred music. This release shows traces his musical growth and influence throughout his life, from Naples to Dresden.
American Record Guide, March / April 2013
The performances are very good. In the Dixit Dominus the articulation is much more graceful, and the performance is extremely fine. Scored for five solo voices, a five-part chorus, two violins, and continuo, it employs bold key changes to build color, interest, and momentum. Conductor Matthias Jung specializes in music that is unknown or rarely heard, often with a connection to Dresden, and this is a fine addition to the baroque discography.
Recording information: Lukaskirche, Dresden (01/01/2011-01/03/2011).
