Notes & Reviews:

This month Federico Guglielmo and his historical instruments ensemble L'arte dell'arco turn to sinfonias and sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti and to the same composer's short intermezzo farce La Dirindina - the dilettantish diva. This particular farsetta involves the personal relations between a budding opera diva and her teacher. With this work based on a libretto by Girolamo Gigli, Scarlatti had hoped to offer the opera public a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the singer's life.

American Record Guide, March / April 2013
The singers and ensemble clearly relish their task, and the farsetta is sung with very fine verve and spirit. Two more sonatas and one sinfonia follow the farsetta, and the Sonata in D minor in that group is especially fine. The opening Grave movement is full of lyrical, expressive, and declamatory writing for solo violin, beautifully played by ensemble leader Federico Guglielmo; and the excellent performance of the next (Allegro) movement's virtuoso intricacies is a delight to hear.
