The Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra performs lyrical Finnish music for strings.

American Record Guide, July/August 2013
This orchestra has done a number of these theme albums for Alba. The second one here, called Nostalgia, is all Finnish composers and all short pieces. There are three by Sibelius; two by Raitio, Klami, and Kuula; and one each by Jarnefelt, Kajanus, Melartin, Merikanto, Madetoja, Kaski, and Haapalainen. All of these are romantic or late romantic. The texture is always strings alone, and the tone is, well, nostalgic - with rare variation. Five of them have violin solos, nicely played by Reijo Tunkkari.

Notes & Reviews:

Recording information: Snellman Hall, Kokkola (05/25/2011-05/27/2011).
