Notes & Reviews:
Suzanne Farrin's debut full length recording of her works features a series of "songs without words" for solo instruments inspired by the poetry of the great Italian poet, Petrarch. Featuring performances by Joshua Rubin and Nuiko Wadden of the International Contemporary Ensemble, and Cal Wiersma of Cygnus Ensemble, "Corpo di Terra" packs intensity and drama into a meditative and introverted context.
American Record Guide, March / April 2013
Farrin's musical interpretations favor an abundance of single techniques. The solo cello in Corpo di Terra sounds like a cello and pastoral and retrospective when it sounds like a harmonica. The solo clarinet in Ma Dentro Dove attempts to uncover hidden sounds and possibilities by having its notes played. The clarinet slides, growls, and yowls multiphonics all over the place. Josh Rubin does a great job.
