Album Summary
Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus : Concerto for Clarinet in A major, K 622
Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus : Quintet for Clarinet and Strings in A major, K 581
Patrick Messina (Clarinet)
Notes & Reviews:
Mozart's passion for the clarinet is well documented, and his compositions for the instrument rank among the most treasured of the great composer's output. This 2007 live recording from the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris features the acclaimed conductor Riccardo Muti leading the Orchestre National de France. Patrick Messina, the orchestra's principal clarinet and visiting Professor at London's Royal Academy, is featured soloist in Mozart's Clarinet Concerto. This sublime performance is paired fittingly with an equally accomplished reading of Mozart's Clarinet Quintet, where Messina is partnered with the Philharmonia Quartett Berlin.
