Notes & Reviews:
Surveying music from Jacob Van Eyck to Claudio Monteverdi (by way of a few anonymous composers of the fourteenth century) this live recording from La Sainte-Chapelle in Paris from the Barok Ensemble explores the wide variety and amazing inventiveness of dance music from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. On this uplifting release, Brazilian soprano Luanda Siqueira joins the ensemble, which includes Charles Limouse (flute and percussion), Gilles Harlé (harpsichord and percussion), David Braccini (violin and percussion) and Marjolaine Cambon (viola da gamba). The album's cover art is a detail of the one of the glorious Medieval stained-glass windows of the Sainte-Chapelle.Notes & Reviews:
