Notes & Reviews:

Praga's acclaimed Reminiscences series, which features SACD remasterings of historic recordings, turns to music of Debussy for this superb release of orchestral works conducted by the great French maestro Manuel Rosenthal. Taken from stereo tapes dating from 1957-58, the recording includes a broad selection of works, from the familiar to the rare. In addition to La Mer, Nocturnes and Jeux, the recording highlights the less well-known Salut Printemps for soprano solo and Invocation for tenor solo. Praga's superb audio presents these gems from the past in the best possible sound quality.

American Record Guide, November/December 2013
The performances are dramatic, exciting, and colorful. Once, when comparing Debussy's orchestrations with Ravel's, I noted that Debussy's tended toward the covered and blended, while Ravel's were clear and classically oriented. In these readings, Debussy's scoring seems clearer than usual, especially in instrumental detail and bass.
