Notes & Reviews:

Kerker seems not to have existed at all, but his birth (1847) is documented in the registry and when he died (1923), the NY Times published a long article commemorating his life and work. Berlin's Metropol-Theater commissioned him to compose a German-language work High Society. As the Hanover concert demonstrated, Kerker's captivating music has lost none of its public impact.

American Record Guide, May/June 2013
The first disc presents excerpts from Kerker's Oberen Zehntausend (High Society), an "Amerikanische Tanzoperette". It was a smashing success. Disc 2 contains a 13-minute orchestral selection arranged by Charles Godfrey Jr from Kerker's most brilliant success The Belle of New York (1897). It succession of popular tunes easily captures the ear. There is also a complete mini-work, Burning To Sing, or Singing To Burn, "a VERY Grand Opera in One Acte". It is sung in the original English, and it does make a grand impression. The singers are a totally delightful. The orchestra has plenty of razzle and dazzle.
