With this recording the great baritone Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau once bade farewell to his public as a vocalist: together with two other great Wagner singers - soprano Julia Varady and tenor Peter Seiffert - , he performs scenes from three of the Bayreuth master's operas, accompanied by the Bavarian State Orchestra, which he conduct himself from the rostrum.
