Notes & Reviews:

Benjamin Britten was one of the few 20th century composers to create a musical universe with works in many different genres that enjoy great popularity. This recording combines the much-loved orchestral variations "The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra" with the highly emotional "Sinfonia da Requiem", which he wrote at the outbreak of war in 1939, and orchestral intermezzi from the opera "Peter Grimes".

EMI Classics continues its Red Line series with another collection of timeless classical pieces. This series features a wide variety of the most talented classical pieces of all time, written by such legendary artists as Bach, Beethoven, Wagner, Tchaikovsky and Mozart. In addition, each CD features some of the most popular classical performers such as the London Classical Players, Andre Parrot, Bruno Leonardo Gelber and Libor Pesek. Every CD in the Red Line series features some of the most defining pieces in musical history.
