Notes & Reviews:

The Ohio University School of Music has been officially in existence since 1917, although some of the individual programs date back to the 1880s. Currently, Trachsel serves as Director of Bands. This CD from the Ohio University Wind Symphony features the world premiere recording of "Mothership" by Mason Bates.

American Record Guide, July/August 2013
John Boyd, former director of bands at Indiana State University, now leads the professors and band directors who constitute the Taiwan Wind Ensemble. They are capable players. Of interest is Boyd's setting of Bach's organ Fantasia in G (S 572), long a band staple in the Goldman arrangement; perhaps this is an improvement. The band delivers committed readings of Taiwanese composer Chia-Ying Chiang's biblically inspired Chasing After the Wind (2010) and Alfred Reed's four-movement Armenian Dances Suite (1972- 6). A very nimble Festive Overture by Shostakovich ends the album.
