Notes & Reviews:
Stone Records is delighted to announce the release of Matthew Rose' s debut recital disc. Together with pianist Gary Matthewman, he performs Schubert' s masterpiece Winterreise. Rose, renowned for his performances at the world' s leading opera houses (The Metropolitan, La Scala, Covent Gardent), is becoming one of the most sought-after basses of his generation. He has teamed up with rising star Matthewman, and together they worked on Winterreise over the course of several years prior to making this recording. The result is one of the most dramatically thrilling and intelligently planned renditions of this great work!
The recording was made at the Snape Maltings near Aldeburgh in the UK, a suitably remote and inspiring location for such a piece. Superbly captured by award-winning producer Sebastien Chonion, the disc is presented in a collectible CD-sized hardback booklet, with articles by Warwick Thompson and Susan Youens, full texts in German & English, and - as downloadable files on the CD itself - transposable sheet music for the entire work.
