Notes & Reviews:
Cavalleria Rusticana tells the tale of Turiddu, who is still in love with his former sweetheart Lola. When Lola's husband Alfio hears of the affair he challenges Turridu to a duel, resulting in a tragic death. This is Mascagni's best-known work and includes the stirring chorus 'Regina coeli' and the beautiful Intermezzo, with its iconic string melody.

Pasino is a touching Santuzza, with a strong bottom register and a knack for putting tears into her voice. Murgu carries powerfully over the orchestra and he brings some honest emotion to his farewell. His duet with Santuzza is fairly exciting, especially the choral din that concludes it.
