Notes & Reviews:

From the wit of Satie to the poetry of Debussy, French music of the early decades of the twentieth century was created by exceptional and imaginative minds capable of grasping delicate nuances and shining infinite variations of light on the natural world and the human soul. Renowned for her diverse repertoire and impressive discography, French pianist Anne Queffélec has a special affinity for this repertoire. On this delightful collection from Mirare, Queffélec leads us down the varied and colorful pathways of some of the most fascinating French music for piano ever written.

American Record Guide, July/August 2013
Anne Queffelec (b. 1948) has been an active French pianist for 45 years and has made more than 30 CDs. Her teachers included Badura-Skoda, Demus, and Brendel. This program has to be music she has lived with all of her life. It is so well played that I can use it as a perfect demonstration of the French piano style. There are probably thousands of recordings of 'Claire de Lune'. This is the kind of program I would give to my students. Mirare continues to produce recordings with superior piano sound and perceptive and well translated booklet notes, including a nice essay by the pianist. Sit back and just revel in pure French elegance.
