Album Notes

Liner Note Authors: Joe Tom White; William Booth .

Well-known for his warm but witty tales of life in South Louisiana, Justin Wilson led a double life: he was a successful comedian, popular in the south and west for his routines about his Cajun friends, while also finding fame as the host of a popular cooking show, going on to author a series of cookbooks on Louisiana cuisine. This CD release features two of his comedy albums, originally released by the Paula label. On 1972's Hunting with Justin Wilson, he shares tales of the misadventures of Louisiana hunters for the entertainment of a meeting of Ducks Unlimited members, including stories about duck hunters disguised as cows, eccentric hunting dogs, and the hard way to get a pair of alligator shoes. 1975's In Orbit goes for a more general approach, with more bits about Cajuns at college, hapless police officers, and farmers with new ways of raising poultry. ~ Mark Deming
