Album Notes

Liner Note Author: G.A. "Goober" Morse.

Popular Cajun comedian Justin Wilson delivers plenty of down-home laughter on these two classic albums, recorded before he rose to fame as a chef. Released in 1973, Intoxicated Tales (also known as Justin Wilson Meets Jean [John] Barleycorn) features Wilson sharing tales of his South Louisiana friends running afoul of demon rum (or whiskey or beer), including puzzled farmers, impaired drivers, and a man who stumbled into a freshly dug grave during a bender. Issued in 1974, The Sport is devoted to stories of baseball and football, subjects that generate plenty of passionate argument in the Deep South. Routines include "The Quick Thinkin' Umpire," "The Long, Long Football Field," and "The Right Handed Cajun Hunter." ~ Mark Deming
