Notes & Reviews:

Since 1998, Schmidt and Rolston have collaborated extensively. All the music on this disc is music that Schmidt wrote specifically for Rolston. It marks the first time listeners will be able to experience the magic of remarkable collaboration between the two artists outside of the concert hall setting.

American Record Guide, July/August 2013
Here is a cello program where the composer serves as pianist. They have been playing partners ever since. Here is some of the repertoire Schmidt wrote for them to play together. This program contains music written between 2003 and 2007. It is pleasant to hear and has some drama. Icicles of Fire, the longest work, is quite interesting in its alternation between fire and ice. I hope for more from these two fine players - and more on one disc, please.
