Notes & Reviews:

This mid-priced reissue featuring the Wells Cathedral Choir conducted by Matthew Owens offers a selection of evocative and accessible choral works by English composer Geoffrey Burgon. Television credits for Burgon include the music for Brideshead Revisited and the BBC's adaptation of John le Carré's Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. But commercial success should not prevent us from recognizing and appreciating Burgon's depth of invention and mastery of formal conception, firmly rooted in the classical tradition, and particularly that of the Anglican Church.
