Notes & Reviews:

Gottlieb Muffat was the youngest son of composer Georg Muffat, inheriting a prodigious talent at the keyboard. The cosmopolitan nature of his works shows the influence of French, German and Italian styles, and his music was of such quality that it was extensively 'borrowed' by Handel. The elegant and at times spectacularly ornamented and virtuoso Componimenti Musicali suites are amongst Muffat's few surviving works. Naoko Akutagawa's recording of Graupner's Partitas (8.570459) has been described by MusicWeb International as "captivating from beginning to end".

American Record Guide, September/October 2013
A galant menuet combines a strumming guitar-like accompaniment figure with nostalgic harmonies. The minuet of the 'Parthie Parisien in A minor' fits uneven phrases into a four-square 8-bar by 8-bar structure. In the 'Parthie Parisien', the 'Aria en Rondeau' sounded most French to me, like Forqueray's 'La Sylva'.In both Parthies, the closing movements are the most lively. Asymmetrical phrases and harmonic feints make these closing statements exciting and compelling. It is a privilege to hear these works for the first time. Akutagawa should be commended for her fine performance and for her advocacy.
