Notes & Reviews:

This special product is dedicated to the countertenor, a voice type rescued from obscurity in the twentieth century and now much in fashion. Featuring some of the leading countertenors of the past twenty years - greats like Philippe Jaroussky, Andreas Scholl, Iestyn Davies, Gérard Lesne, James Bowman, Dominique Visse and David D.Q. Lee - this is a fascinating and moving program of opera and sacred pieces that pays tribute to the purity and transcendence of the countertenor voice.

American Record Guide, September/October 2013
This release is, first of all a label sampler, and two pages in the booklet tell you what full recordings these excerpts came from. All the singers here represent the tendency of recent countertenors to stress smooth singing and a variably feminine sound.

MusicWeb International, 13th November 2013
A splendid taster for those who haven't yet exploited this niche of the music...Eight singers of undisputed high quality can be heard here, and they are only the tip of the iceberg. Repertoire-wise very little is standard fare.
