Notes & Reviews:

American Record Guide, July/August 2014
Grumiaux conveys a sure sense of grandeur in his performance of the Brahms Violin Concerto. His playing is intelligent, technically assured, and unfailingly sensitive. Ernest Ansermet and the Orchestra of the Suisse Romande supply dramatic and warmblooded accompaniment. Some of Grumiaux's favorite chamber pieces round out this set. He approaches Schubert's Violin Sonata in A, with pianist Riccardo Castagnone, as an intensely lyrical song without words. He plays Franck's Sonata in A, with pianist Hans Altmann, as a kind of instrumental tone poem. The sound quality of these 50- and 60- year-old recordings is superb.
