Notes & Reviews:
Following his Félix award-winning recording of Bruckner's Symphony No. 4 with the Orchestre Métropolitain, Yannick Nézet-Séguin turns to the Austrian master's Symphony No. 6. This CD marks the fifth Bruckner symphony recorded on the ATMA label by the Orchestre Métropolitain under the direction of Nézet-Séguin.
American Record Guide, September/October 2013
We have several fine Bruckner 6 recordings. Klemperer, Lopez-Cobos, Karajan, and Dohnanyi are all beautiful and satisfying. This one, despite lovely playing and very good sound. Nezet-Seguin offers a very extroverted reading. He wants to liven things up with strong accents and bright colors. Bruckner's music can work at all kinds of speeds: Bohm (fast) and Celibidache (slow) can give us great performances. There's room in fine Bruckner for both bright colors and strong accents.
BBC Music Magazine, December 2013
The first movement of this least-played of Brucnker's mature symphonies has the marking Majestoso, although you'd never know it from the urgent tempo here. Coupled with a lightness of orchestral texture, this is a performance that shakes off the well upholstered image of Bruckner.
