Notes & Reviews:

With an African-American spiritual, spectacular bel canto, romantic song and comic opera, Lawrence Brownlee unveils the breadth of his repertoire and the lyric tenor voice that has won acclaim at the New York's Metropolitan Opera (for his 'agility, elegance and Rossinian style) and farther afield.

BBC Music Magazine, September 2013
Brownlee doesn't have anything liek the deceptive ease of Pavarotti, and he could use something more of Alfredo Kraus's poise and grace; but his considerable technical elegance and attractive tone make him a must-hear for bel canto admirers.

International Record Review, May 2013
Brownlee has a prodigious technique in florid music...One does not have to listen beyond the first two lines of Duparc's Chanson triste to realize that Brownlee commands a laudable legato...This is a recital of many delights, with both Brownlee and Burnside on top form.

American Record Guide, September/October 2013
Brownlee is a singer I've been eager to hear, and this demonstrates abundantly that he is worthy of the praise he has been getting. "Mellifluous" is truly the right word for his voice. The program begins and ends with Burleigh arrangements of American spirituals that Brownlee sings with great depth of feeling. In between he sings in French, Italian, English, and Spanish. It's all perfectly clear.
