Notes & Reviews:

After intensive research, Pietro Massa discovered a copy of the lost score of the Piano Concerto in F major No. 2 op. 92 by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco at the Fleisher Collection in Philadelphia. The first European Performance of this work took place in the Berliner Philharmonie in September 2009 with Pietro Massa performing. Capriccio Vienna recorded and released this performance in September 2010 as a world premiere recording. The present recording was made on November 11th, 2010 from a live recording at the Konzertkirche Neubrandenburg.

...The Piano Concertos nos. 1 & 2 come from 1927 and 1937 respectively. Both are vivid, sunny works, melodic and lushly scored. American Record Guide, January/February 2014
Concerto 1 is irrepressibly tuneful, cheerful, and energetic, with glittering outer movements that never descend into bombast. And I'd be just as happy to see the tuneful and cheerful Concerto 2. PietroMassa seems to have made something of a specialty of 20th Century Italian piano works. Mr Massa's playing here is certainly committed - singing and lyrical when called for, thundering and powerful at the climaxes, and never without nuance and sensitivity. Capriccio offers sterling recorded sound - about as good as it gets this side of an SACD or audio Blu-ray - with a good balance between the solo piano and the orchestra in the concertos. The solo piano's sound in Disc 2 is full and rich and expansive.

Gramophone Magazine, Awards Issue 2013
Patchily distinctive melody and lush, colourful orchestration are Castelnuovo-Tedesco's strongest cards, harnessed to some daunting challenges for the soloist. Pietro Massa rises to these superbly...while demonstrating a keenly sensitive touch in the two central Romanzas.
