You listen to his music and you are smitten with the brilliant youthful escapade from a just about sixteen year old boy who has already written music history with the String Octet in E flat in 1825 and in the following year with the Midsummer Night's Dream Overture. It took till the year 1842 that the a minor Symphony was completed. After a successful premiere in London during a visit at Buckingham Palace on 13th June in London, Mendelssohn could dedicate the symphony to Queen Victoria.
