Album Summary

>Penderecki, Krzysztof : Symphony no 8 "Lieder Vergänglichkeit"
Performers Conductor Ensemble Composer

Notes & Reviews:

Krzysztof Penderecki is one of the most famous and prominent living Polish composers. Symphonies have a special place in his legacy, but until now have never been recorded in a series under his artistic direction. In celebration of his 80th birthday, DUX presents the best performances of his works with the Sinfonia luventus. His great musical authority influences the young musicians' energetic and fresh sound.

American Record Guide, November/December 2013
The Eighth Symphony (2005-7), subtitled Songs of Transience, is a cycle of songs dealing with nature, death, and sorrow, for solo voices, mixed chorus, and orchestra. This is undeniably a "Late Work" and will surprise many who assume they know this composer, even his neo-romantic phase.
